Fasting is the abstinence or reduction of food for a given period of time to improve physical, mental and spiritual health and wellbeing.


Fasting was very popular in ancient times and was even practised by medical doctors until the more recent treatment with prescription drugs and the rise of the pharmaceutical companies.


Fasting can have some major benefits and has been known to cure so called incurable disease but is not for the faint hearted and certainly long water only fasts should be supervised.


Fasting (in whatever variant) should form part of your road to recovery and should then become part of your ongoing lifestyle with a maintenance programme either including OMAD (One-Meal-a-Day), intermittent fasting variations (5:2, 16:8, 20:4, etc), fasting as your norm or undertaking periodic water only fasts throughout the year.


It is very important to work with someone when starting a fasting programme as strong detoxing symptoms can happen, making you question the benefits, as you can and often do feel worse before feeling better.
