FASTING
Why is Fasting So Important?
Fasting, intermittent fasting and restrictive eating have been around for thousands of years, it is perfectly natural and is safe, and it is still practiced today by many people. However, when modern medicine came along its popularity waned as people looked toward modern medicine and medications to help or cure them.
This is a shame as many of our modern chronic illnesses, especially those we get as we get older are caused by what we eat, how much we eat and when we eat, and modern medicine simply can not help them!
Hippocrates said over 2,000 years ago - "All Disease Begins in the Gut!".
If we give our body the right environment to heal, it has a natural ability to heal and even sometimes fully cure our chronic illnesses – Type 2 Diabetes, High Blood Pressure and Digestive Disorders especially responds very well to restricted eating, with many studies showing it even going into full reversal and remission!
So, what does modern medicine offer to heal or cure these conditions? Well not a lot really. Maybe medication that helps a little with our symptoms, but they usually have side effects, some of which can be very unpleasant, and sometimes you need another tablet to counter those side effects – and are these tablets really healing or repairing your body and addressing the root cause of your problem? We will let you make your own mind up on that question, but we think the answer is pretty emphatic and a clear No in most cases!
Up to 70% of our immune system is contained within our digestive system, if we overload, overwork, overuse and abuse our digestive system, which we do on a typical western diet with constant eating at least 3-6 meals a day and snacking in between - our immune system does not get enough time to repair and heal itself or our bodies – hence, the many unnecessary chronic illnesses we suffer from today. Quite simply as the modern diet of constantly eating and snacking on highly processed carbohydrate, sugars and fast foods has spread around the world, so has many chronic illnesses including Type 2 Diabetes, which is now epidemic and increasing at an alarming rate!
If our bodies and digestive systems are not allowed the time to heal through the constant barrage of our poor modern western diets and by regular over-eating, they will ultimately fail to do their job, leading to one or more chronic illnesses that most of us in the modern western world suffer from, especially as we get older!
Is there an alternative or are we just destined to get these chronic health problems?
Well the simple answer is Yes, there is an alternative.
